Justice Services

Recovery Courts are at the forefront of a sweeping change in the approach to substance abuse within the criminal justice system. Through the implementation of court supervision, substance abuse treatment, and intensive case management, recidivism rates are reduced significantly. The generational impact of the cycle of addiction is broken and lives are changed forever.

South Central Human Resource Agency manages four recovery courts in Lincoln County, Maury County, and Lawrence County. The Judge, District Attorney, defense bar, or probation office may refer a potential participant. Candidate eligibility requirements are as follows: must voluntarily agree to enter the Recovery Court program; must be eighteen (18) years of age or older; must not be a violent offender; must be a potential agreement among sentencing Judge, District Attorney General’s office, and the Defense Counsel that Recovery Court would be an appropriate option; must self-report a history of substance misuse; must have all legal matters; and cannot have an acute mental disorder where symptom severity could inhibit successful completion of the program.
